Page 1 of 5 - great western (br western region) engine shed track layout - posted in layout topics: hello guys....could anyone point me in the direction of sites to hand where prototypical track plans exist for engine sheds on the gwr (br western region) may be located as i wish to model such a situation within quite a constrained situation. Page 1 of 2 - loco shed plan - posted in layout & track design: hi, i am now at the stage with my layout when i can think about planning the loco shed and would appreciate a few views on this. a few facts first:- 1 it is an 00 gauge dcc layout using peco code 100 track and electrofrog points (medium for the shed area).. What you really want from a shed layout is somewhere to view your loco's so you only want the first bit of the shed on your layout. the locos look better standing outside. if you can spare the space to put a peco loco lifter beyond the shed and the backscene, your shorty shed could hold an apparent multitude of locos, leaving more space for the.

So it now resides elsewhere on a mates layout. i reverted to the original plan that included some basic loco facilities. those being a loco shed, coal stage, and a second goods shed. once i'd made the decision to revert to the original idea things have started to move forward nicely. i've began with the locomotive shed.. Re: opening loco shed doors reply #21 on: august 25, 2018, 01:38:06 pm arduino's and servos,k.i.s.s i say, slow speed motor attached to each door, have an arm on the motor shaft that hits 2 micro switches at the fully open and closed limits, job done.if you want complicated chuck in a relay or 2 and make the whole thing operate from one. Depending on what engine shed you are going to build my advice would be, you need to think through the sequence of events a locomotive goes through when going on shed. ie arrival, turning and coaling for a return journey, other requirements are disposal of ashes, fire cleaning and any repairs required..
